Security Technician Seminars – Employer and employee training
The Security Technician Seminar concerns all employers. It is provided by the current legislation that each employer who employs workers has a person responsible for the safety and health of workers in the workplace.
The Security Technician is an advisor to the employer and employees and in general his mission is:
(a) regularly inspect jobs in terms of occupational health and safety, report to the employer any omission of health and safety measures, propose measures to deal with it and supervise their implementation.
(b) to ensure that employees in the undertaking observe occupational health and safety rules and to guide them in preventing the occupational risk involved in their work.
Also, the employer has an obligation to have a written assessment of the risks in his company drawn up by the security technician.
In the written risk assessment, a systematic examination of all aspects of each work carried out is made and recorded:
What could cause damage and damage
To what extent could sources of risk be eliminated, and if not
What prevention and protection measures are or should be implemented.
According to presidential decree 294/88, businesses are divided into three risk categories, depending on their activity. The qualifications of the Safety Technician are determined by the risk category to which the company belongs as well as the number of employees employed in it.
In the first (A) risk category, certain specialties A.E.I and T.E.I. can take on the duties of Security Technician. depending on the economic sector in which the company operates as well as the number of employees. The mandatory training of the Security Techniques at A.E.I and T.E.I. level. to reduce the time required from obtaining a diploma or degree is of a minimum duration of one hundred (100) hours (L.3144/03 article 9), while the optional training of the aforementioned Security Techniques (PD 17/96 article 6, L.1568/1985 article 13) is of a minimum duration of seventy (70) hours (Y.A.131784/03).
In the second (B) category of risk, the employer himself can assume the duties of Security Technician, under certain conditions (B category) concerning the level of knowledge of the employer and the total number of employees employed in his company. The compulsory training of the above-mentioned employers who can take on the duties of Safety Technicians is of a minimum duration of thirty-five (35) hours (Y.A.133225/04).
In the third (C) risk category, the employer himself can assume the duties of Security Technician under certain conditions (C category) regarding the total number of employees employed in his company.
The compulsory training of the aforementioned employers who can take on the duties of Safety Technicians is of a minimum duration of ten (10) or five (5) hours (Y.A.133224/04).
